How Many Sugar Chunks Are In Your Favorite Products?

Everyone knows we eat too much sugar.

But how do you really realize the amount of sugar you swallow every day?

With "Sucrez Vos Fraises" launched in 2018, 2 students, Arthur Grolleau and Léa Soulard, have found the trick!

Just take a picture of the products we know (and eat) all with their equivalent in sugar cubes next to them.

Then all you have to do is post it all on Instagram. And the least we can say is that it speaks volumes!

Super effective in raising awareness of the presence of sugar in everyday food products! Look :

How much sugar is in your favorite products?

1. Andros apple sauce = 30 sugar cubes

In a pot of applesauce from the Andros brand, there is the equivalent of 30 lumps of sugar. Fortunately, the majority comes from the natural sugar in apples. But there is still 12% added sugar.

2. Strawberry Lu trays = 14 sugar cubes

In a 120 g packet made up of 19 trays, there is 70.8 g of sugar. More than half of the product! That is exactly 59%. In other words, it's the equivalent of 14 lumps of sugar. Each cookie contains 3.9g of sugar, which is just under a square of sugar.

3. Prince = 6.5 sugar cubes

Do you know these cookies? If so, you know it's hard to eat just one! It is for this reason that the two students chose to analyze the sugar content of 4 Prince cookies. For 4 cookies, there is 33.6 g of sugar, which is 6.5 lumps of sugar. In comparison, note that the WHO recommends a sugar intake of 25 g per day.

4. Carte d'Or vanilla ice cream = 26 sugar cubes

A 500 g jar of Carte d'Or vanilla ice cream contains the equivalent of 26 sugar cubes (130 g)!

5. Little schoolboy with dark chocolate = 11 sugar cubes

In a packet of Dark Chocolate Lu Little Schoolboy, there are 12 cookies. On 150 g of products there are 54 g of sugar or the equivalent of 11 lumps of sugar. A cookie is therefore almost a piece of sugar.

6. Magnum Almond ice cream = 5 sugar cubes

In this 82 g ice cream, there are 24 g of sugar, or 5 sugar cubes. By eating one of these ice creams, we absorb the maximum amount of sugar recommended per day.

7. Snickers = 5 sugar cubes

A Snickers bar weighs 50 g and contains 25 g of sugar (more or less depending on the variants), or 5 lumps of sugar.

8. Bonne Maman caramel chocolate tarts = 11 sugar cubes

In a 135g pack, there are 9 tarts that contain 55g of sugar. This represents 11 lumps of sugar. A tartlet therefore contains a little more than the equivalent of a lump of sugar.

9. BN chocolate taste = 3.5 pieces of sugar

If we eat 3 BN (or 57 g), we absorb 18 g of sugar, the equivalent of 3.5 sugars. Sugar therefore represents more than 1/3 of the composition of the cake: 32% exactly.

10. Ketchup = 13 sugar cubes

A 340g pot of ketchup is 66% tomatoes and everything else is glucose. As a result, there are 66.3 g of sugar in that bottle or the equivalent of 13 lumps of sugar.

14. M & M's Crispy = 41 sugar cubes

In this large 260g pack of M & M's Crispy candies, there are the equivalent of 41 sugar cubes (206g sugar) !!!!

15. KitKat bar = 4 sugar cubes

A KitKat bar weighs 42 g. In each KitKat bar, there is 19.2 g of sugar, or 4 pieces of sugar. Sugar therefore represents 42% of the product.

16. Milka peanut caramel bar = 26 sugar cubes

By eating a 276 g bar, we eat the equivalent of 132 g of sugar, or about 26 sugar cubes. Sugar represents 48% of all the ingredients.

17. DéliChoc = 14 sugar cubes

A 150 g packet of DéliChoc represents the equivalent of 14 sugar cubes (70.6 g).

18. Ben & Jerry Cookie Dough = 21 sugar cubes

A jar of cookie flavored ice cream weighs 425 g, of which 106.25 g is sugar. In other words: 21 pieces of sugar. A small part of the sugar found in the ice cream comes from the milk, but the rest has been added with the other ingredients.

19. BioNutri + from Bjorg = 1.5 sugar cubes

There is 7 g of sugar in 4 Bjorg cookies, which makes 1.5 lumps of sugar. Compared to the other cookies on the list, these look almost light! But let's not forget that this still represents 1/4 of the sugar intake recommended by the WHO.
