3 Simple and Economical Tips For a Happy Goldfish!

Does your child want a goldfish?

We must admit that a goldfish is a practical animal! He stays where he is and doesn't get noticed.

But you are probably wondering how to deal with it.

I made my son very happy by giving him his Bubble. So, I did some research on caring for goldfish.

Jar or aquarium, filter, water ... Goldfish hold no secrets for me!

My tips are simple and economical, so that Bubulle is a happy fish! And I share them with you ;-)

how to take care of your goldfish, change the water, choose the aquarium

1. The choice of aquarium

First of all, know that all aquariums should be rectangular like this one.

You must avoid at all costs to take a round jar because they are too small and in addition they distort the vision of the fish inside. A real nightmare for them!

In a rectangular aquarium of 18 liters, you can put up to 1 single fish. But the best is to count 50 liters of water per fish and to have two fish because they are so-called gregarious fish, that is to say, living in a group.

Ban the pump, which is on the one hand very noisy, but in addition we must maintain and change regularly. At the end of the day, it is very expensive. Put some sand and decorations. One plant for CO2 and food is enough.

Otherwise the fish will have little room to grow and move freely.

2. Maintenance of the aquarium

The ideal is to change the water once a week or every 10 days, if you don't have too hard water and it doesn't look very dirty.

Remember to add more during the week if the level drops quickly, as in summer for example. Change it on the day you need to water your plants, it will be their fertilizer and you will save water.

You only need to change 4 / 5ths of the water. The stored water contains the pH and bacteria necessary to maintain the aquarium ecosystem which will help your fish to develop.

When I clean his aquarium, I place Bubble in a freezer bag or a mini plastic aquarium, with some of its current water.

I change the water and then I put the container and the fish back in the aquarium which has cooler water.

Gradually, the water in the bag will take the same temperature as the aquarium and Bubble will escape the thermal shock.

Since we have chosen the "aquarium without pump" option, we can add a product that improves the quality of the water. It can be found in the supermarket or here on the internet.

3. Fish food

Bubulle has a great quality: it feeds relatively little and its food is really not expensive! I buy a very small jar of whole food flakes in the supermarket.

No need to buy several jars with benefits for each one (such as for example the red glitter which keeps it red, the chestnuts which nourish it etc).

A 100 ml jar can be kept for one year. And when I go on vacation, I think of the sticks that melt on their own in the aquarium.
