Gaumont Unlimited Card: Good or Bad Idea? My opinion of Cinephile.

With the Le Pass card, the cinema is unlimited, for just over € 20 per month. An ideal solution for enthusiasts ... but which may not necessarily be profitable for others!

The movies, for me, are sacred. I find that nothing beats a little session in a dark room to relax a bit. Except that the cinema is expensive. A few weeks ago, my husband had to wear me out: he took out a subscription to the Le Pass du Gaumont card.

For 20 € 90 per month, he can see all the films he wants, at any time and in any cinema in France (as long as it's a Gaumont, of course, you don't have to push either!).

Archi-simple procedures

When opening the card, we were simply asked for a RIB (you have to add about ten euros, I believe, if you refuse the monthly debit from your bank account) and a file has been filled out. The identity photo is taken on site and the card is valid immediately. Normally there is an application fee of 30 euros, but we got a special offer, which was free. No charge for us therefore!

As many films as we want, even in 3 D

Since then, Mr. has enjoyed a session every time he leaves work (this is the advantage of the staggered hours, which allow the luxury of the cinema in the middle of the afternoon!). He has been able to see all the movies that have been released lately, whether they are in 2 or 3 D at no extra charge!

An achievement of which he is very proud, but which should be put into perspective in my opinion: this feat is only possible because he works staggered hours, and therefore has time, in the afternoon, to go quietly to the cinema.

Not sure the card would have been so profitable under other circumstances! If you are not sure that you can go to the movies at least three times a month, it is better to fall back on other solutions, such as 5-seat cards for example.

Because the Le Pass card still commits you for one year… with tacit renewal! So beware of forgetting to terminate next year!

Savings Realized

At € 9 for a cinema ticket on average, the unlimited card is reimbursed in two and a half screenings. Clearly, if you go see a movie more than twice a month, it will be profitable. Especially since if you manage like me, the application fees are free. And advantage for the accompanying person: a price of € 6

Over the past month, my husband has seen 19 films (don't ask me how that is possible!), Which would have cost him € 171 if he had had the folly to pay full price for so many films!

I think he has a bit of a madness for grandeur; but for a normally constituted person (sorry, honey!) who will go to the cinema three times a month for example, we are sure savings of around € 7 per month (provided that the said person does not have any reduced rates, such as a loyalty card, or movie tickets). That is 84 € for the full year. So it just remains to know how many times you go to the cinema in the month!
