Here's How To Heat Yourself With Coffee Grind Logs.

As you probably know, there are many uses for coffee grounds.

But did you know that you can make logs with coffee grounds?

Yes, you read that right ! Logs for heating!

This is the surprising idea that Valérie Grammont, the founder of Smart & Green, had!

The idea is to make logs with coffee grounds for fireplaces, stoves, inserts and even barbecues.

And it heats up really well. Explanations:

Clean and renewable energy

The coffee grounds look like charcoal. But unlike coal, it does not pollute!

It is an ecological fuel and an almost inexhaustible resource!

Instead of being thrown away and ending up as waste, coffee grounds are transformed into a source of renewable energy. Not bad is not it ?

A log = 150 coffees

In addition, coffee lovers will be delighted to know that it takes 150 cups of coffee to make a log.

That is to say the average coffee consumption of a French person, for forty days.

Suddenly, that's so much less waste to process! It is therefore a great and useful enhancement of coffee grounds.

But turning coffee grounds into fuel requires a few steps.

Once the marc has been collected, it must first be treated before turning it into a log.

No paraffin or petroleum product

We then start by drying it, then sift it. It is then heated and mixed with vegetable waxes, such as jojoba oil.

But rest assured, no toxic and polluting petroleum-based product is added. No paraffin, no petroleum product!

"There are no chemicals, it's 100% natural", assures Valérie Gramont, at the origin of this genius idea and founder of her company to sell her logs of a new kind.

Each log is sold in a bag for 6 €, in gas stations, at Auchan or Leclerc.

A log of coffee grounds = 4 wooden logs.

This log compressed with coffee grounds has only advantages: it does not make dust like a classic wooden log.

And it heats as well as 4 logs. A single log of coffee grounds takes 2 hours to burn.

The good news for the planet? This is because coffee grounds produce 10 times less carbon monoxide and four times less tar sweat.

In addition, these logs are made in France and the manufacturing workshop employs 80% of disabled workers.
