I don't know about you, but I love melons!

Not only is it juicy, but it also refreshes.

The problem is that you never know what to do with the seeds ...

As a result, the melon seeds end up in the trash. Too bad, because they are completely edible!

Fortunately, here is the delicious recipe for make roasted and salted seeds for the aperitif.

How to do

1. Remove the seeds from the melon with a spoon.

2. Wash the seeds thoroughly by running them under water to remove all the pulp.

3. Dry them with a kitchen towel, wiping them gently to remove moisture.

4. Put them in a frying pan.

5. Grill them over low heat, stirring for 4 to 5 minutes to avoid burning them.

6. Pour them into a small container and season with salt.

Additional advice

- Be careful not to burn the seeds when they cook in the pan.

- Cook them long enough so that the seeds are crunchy and easy to eat.

- Use a flavored salt (salt and seaweed or salt and sesame seeds) to give more flavor to your toasted seeds. You can also add paprika or Espelette pepper.

- To eat them, either you eat the whole of the seed, or you swallow only the inside of the seed and leave the shell aside.

Bonus tips

You can use the same recipe to make roasted squash seeds when it's in season, from August through December.

To have an aperitif seed mix, just add sesame, chia and sunflower seeds to accompany your melon or squash seeds.

This will give you your own homemade seed mix to snack on as an aperitif.

Now, not only will you be feasting on good melons, but you will also be able to eat the seeds!

Like many seeds, the seeds of the melon are full of health benefits.

They are rich in mineral salts, B vitamins, fiber, protein, antioxidants and unsaturated fatty acids.

It would be a shame to go without and throw them in the trash, right?
