Already 6 Months WITHOUT Shampoo! My Opinion on This Experience.

When I started washing my hair with baking soda and vinegar, I wanted to do the test just for 1 month.

But now I can't stop!

I haven't used shampoo for 6 months.

I had read Marine's article titled "After 3 Years Without Using Shampoo Here Is What I Learned" but I confess that I was not very convinced ...

But in the end, I continued "washing" my hair with baking soda and rinsing with apple cider vinegar.

result after 6 months without shampoo no poo

I never thought I would be doing this again, 6 months later!

But I am now converted and faithful to this method. And I have no intention of going back.

The positive points of this method

There are a lot of things that I like about this method.

First of all, there is almost no adjustment period for me.

And this is, I think, the case for people with very thick hair.

Or those who already washed their hair very little: once or twice a week maximum.

The real obstacle was rather psychological. It was having vinegar smells all day long.

But don't worry, the smell wears off immediately and it doesn't smell at all afterwards :-)

my hair is no longer greasy since I stopped using shampoo

Then my hair is become healthier and easier to comb since I no longer use shampoo.

They are less greasy and I can space the washes, usually 4 to 5 days. They are softer, brighter and less frizzy than before.

I have no more ears, and I have natural and supple curls. I just run a little coconut oil through my hair to style it.

The day I didn't respect the method

I have sprained this method only 2 times.

It was when I went on vacation abroad to Morocco and Greece.

And I can tell you that I immediately saw a big difference after washing with regular shampoo.

My hair was dry and full of frizz, it was oily in 2 days!

I also noticed that my scalp was itchy right away after using the shampoo.

Why ? Maybe because the natural sebum had been removed from the scalp?

Economical & ecological

I really like that this "shampoo-free" method fits perfectly with my quest for a "Zero Waste" life.

In 6 months, I only used a cardboard box of baking soda and only a 1/2 bottle of vinegar.

No more plastic shampoo and conditioner bottles thrown in the recycling bin ...

Same goes for the hair care products I used to tame my hair.

And in addition, I do not tell you the savings I make on a daily basis ! As you know, L'Oréal-type shampoos are far from economical ...

How to wash your hair without shampoo

If the "shampoo-free" method has been intriguing you for a while, why not give it a try too?

You might be pleasantly surprised at the result. And what's more, it's very simple.

This is how I do it:

1. I put 2 tablespoons of baking soda in a 500 ml glass bottle.

2. I fill the bottle with hot water.

3. I mix to dissolve the baking soda.

4. I wet my hair.

5. I pour the mixture on my hair.

6. I rub my hair.

7. I rinse.

8. I add 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to the same bottle.

9. I add hot water.

10. I mix.

11. I pour over the head.

12. I rinse it off almost immediately.

Results

There you go, my hair is washed and clean without using shampoo :-)

Rather easy as a technique, isn't it?

Note that the doses listed here are for long hair.

If yours are short or mid-length, use only 1 tablespoon of baking soda and vinegar in 1 250 ml bottle.

If your hair doesn't seem clean enough when dried, use a little more baking soda next time.

Your turn...
