Do You Really Have To Wash Every Day? Find Out The Answer Here.

Should you wash yourself every day? Good question !

The answer may seem obvious a priori.

But, in fact, it is not that much.

However, for 4 out of 5 French people, there is no doubt: the daily shower is essential.

But is it really the only way to be clean? And should you use soap every time you wash?

In reality, common sense dictates that we adapts the frequency of the showers to the climate and the activity that we have during the day.

Do you have to wash every day to be clean?

Beware of excessive hygiene

Because let's not forget that some dermatologists are cautious: according to them, excessive hygiene is harmful to health.

For Maud Bezier, who is a dermatologist, washing too often attacks the skin.

"It's a fact. Soap scours the skin and at the same time alters the hydrolipidic film, present on any surface of the epidermis.

Under the effect of aggressive washing, weakened skin is prone to drying out, which can take a severe form for skin prone to dryness, ”she explains in an LCI article.

But to choose between a shower with soap and a shower without using soap, the answer of the specialists is without ambiguity. It is best to use soap.

Avoid washing without soap

The dermatologist, Catherine Ghouti, explains that washing without soap does not eliminate the dead epidermal cells that accumulate on the skin.

Likewise, washing without soap does not remove sebum, this natural fatty substance that covers the skin.

But as it is useful to maintain this hydrolipidic film to protect the epidermis, it is also important to get rid of the dead cells accumulated throughout the day.

And not doing it regularly can cause skin lesions.

So dermatologists recommend using soap-free shower gels, ultra-rich soaps or dermatological bars.

Make your own soap and shower gel

However, there is another alternative.

Why not make your own hydrating and natural homemade shower gel yourself?

It's easy and you are sure to have a gel with gentle, skin-friendly products. Find out how to do it here.

And nothing prevents you from also making a mild soap without soda, as explained here.

But that's not always enough to prevent dry skin and tightness. Because there is another reason for having tight skin: water that is too hot and hard.

"Water that is too hot or very hard is all aggravating factors", confirms Maud Bezier.

And the hair ?

The same problem arises with the hair. Washing them too frequently assaults them.

However, washing them only with water is not enough to have a beautiful clean hair ...

"Washing your hair with water would not be enough, in my opinion, to properly remove all the keratin residues, sebum and debris that settle there," says Maud Bezier.

However, some have chosen to no longer wash their hair with shampoo that contains too many chemicals.

More and more people are using simple apple cider vinegar and baking soda to keep hair clean.

So in summary, taking a shower every day is not necessary to be clean.

It all depends on your activity during the day. On the other hand, it is better to use a soap adapted to your skin!
