I've had an iPhone for years.

But it took me a long time to know all the useful tips and tricks.

To help you make better use of your iPhone, I've picked out 33 tips for you that most people don't know.

These tips work with all iPhones. From the newest iPhone X to iPhone 5S, 6, 7 and 8.

1. Take a photo with the volume button

Much more convenient to take a photo, you just need to click on the volume + or - button to trigger the photo.

2. Use Google Maps without connection

When you go abroad, you can use Google Maps as a free GPS without an internet connection.

Before leaving, when you still have a connection, simply go to the map that interests you and type in the search bar "ok maps".

3. Stop the music with the timer

Did you know that you could stop the music that is playing after a while?

This is useful if you want to fall asleep to the music without waking you up in the middle of the night.

Go to Clock> Timer> Ringtone and choose "Stop reading".

4. Display the strength of the telephone network with numbers

The small circles that display the reception are not very precise on the iPhone ...

Fortunately, there is a trick to displaying numbers instead.

To do this, touch Phone then type * 3001 # 12345 # * and then touch the green button as if you were calling this number.

A new screen will appear, indicating Field Test. On this screen, the small circles have been replaced by numbers out of 100 much more precise.

5. Close 3 applications at the same time

Did you know that it is possible to close 3 applications at the same time? To do this, double click on the Home button and use 3 fingers.

When you have lots of open applications, it saves time and increases the speed of your iPhone or iPad.

6. Use Apple headphones to take a photo

To easily take a selfie, just press the + button on the headset remote.

You can also put the iPhone down and take a photo from further away without having to press the button with your finger.

It also works for taking a video.

7. Find recently closed tabs in Safari

Need to find a tab you closed on Safari?

Act as if you were going to open a new tab, but instead of pressing the + 1 time, keep it pressed to bring up the closed tabs window.

There you go, you can now access all the tabs that you recently closed :-)

8. Use Spotlight search like a pro

When you do a Spotlight search (by sliding your finger down on the home screen), you have access to almost everything stored on your iPhone: your contacts (which can be searched by name or number), apps, messages, calendar events, songs, videos and more.

You can customize where the search is done by going to Settings> General> Spotlight Search.

To save time, you can directly use the Spotlight search, to make a phone call, send a message (instead of going to your contact list), find an app quickly among the hundreds you have, or find an app. song (you can search by title, artist or album) instead of trying to find it in all your playlists.

9. Delete the last digit on the calculator instead of deleting everything

When you make a mistake on the calculator, the first reflex is to press C. Result, you must retype the whole number.

But if you only have one digit to change, swipe left to right to erase the last digit (s) entered. It also works from right to left.

10. Access the scientific calculator

When the calculator is open, put iPhone in landscape mode to access the scientific calculator, which offers many more options.

11. Close a notification banner quickly

You can swipe up on the screen to quickly close a notification banner.

12. Respond quickly to a message

13. Change songs easily with headphones: previous / next

The iPhone's headphone remote is handy. Press the middle button 1 time to play music or pause a song.

Press twice to skip to the next song. Press 3 times to go back to the previous song.

14. Go back to the top of the screen in a flash

When you're at the very bottom of a page, tap the top of any app's screen to jump all the way to the top in a flash.

No need to tire your thumb to get to the top of an article!

15. Limit access to your iPhone

When a child wants to play with your iPhone or iPad, it can help to limit access to your phone. To do this, use the "Guided access" feature.

This feature will prevent the child from tapping anywhere and ending up in a place where they shouldn't, or worse, accidentally erase something.

To do this, tap Settings> General> Accessibility> Guided access and turn it on. Also activate the Accessibility Shortcut.

Then go to the game or application in question and click 3 times on the Home button of the iPhone to activate the function.

And there you have it, now only the game is playable! Impossible to go elsewhere! To deactivate the function, tap the "Home" button 3 times and enter your secret code.

16. Recharge iPhone 2 times faster with airplane mode

If you put your phone on airplane mode, it will charge twice as fast.

Try this trick when you travel, it really saves time.

17. Use iPhone even with broken Home button

If your iPhone's Home button is broken, use the “AssistiveTouch” feature to replace it.

18. Save time with keyboard shortcuts

Keyboard shortcuts save you time when typing messages or emails.

Very useful to avoid retyping your email every time, to add an emoticon that you use often, to type long and difficult to spell words, or to type the names of streets or places that you often use in messages .

To do this, go to Settings> General> Keyboard> Shortcuts to add the shortcuts you need.

19. Write in capital letters all the time

Sometimes you need to write a sentence or an abbreviation in capital letters.

To do this, double-click on the arrow at the bottom left to lock caps.

20. Press and hold 0 to access the degree symbol °

If you are discussing the weather or chemistry, you may need the degree symbol.

To do this, keep your finger pressed on the number 0 for 2 seconds to display the "degree" symbol.

21. Shake iPhone to erase text

Have you typed some text you want to erase? Shake the iPhone to undo your entry.

It's quick and smart. If you shake again, the text will come back as if by magic.

22. Increase the brightness when you take a photo

Did you know that it is possible to improve the brightness when you take a photo?

This function is useful if you take a photo in a dark place with little light. Or if, conversely, you want to decrease the brightness for a photo taken against the light.

To do this, touch the screen anywhere, then slide your finger up to increase the brightness or down to decrease it.

23. Take panoramic photos from right to left

Do you also like panoramic photos? But do you find it annoying to always have to take pictures from left to right?

Fortunately, there is a trick to changing the direction.

Just click on the little white arrow to take photos from right to left. Yes, you had to know it :-)

24. Use the built-in level of the iPhone

When you do DIY at home, you often need a level to know, for example, if a board is straight or not. Well, know that there is a level hidden in the iPhone.

Open the compass app and swipe the screen from right to left to experience the built-in level that changes color when you're perfectly horizontal or vertical. Very practical!

25. Find a word in a web page on Safari

Do you often use Ctrl + F on PC or Cmd + F on Mac? Note that it is possible to do the same thing on your iPhone to find a specific word or phrase on a web page.

To do this, type the word or phrase in the search bar and scroll down to the bottom of the screen to see the number of occurrences on the page you are viewing.

26. Use bold, italics or underline in an email

27. Take a burst of photos at once

Want to take lots of photos all at once? You just need to keep the button pressed to engage the burst mode automatically.

28. Put an unlock code with letters and not numbers

Go to Settings> Code> enter your code then deactivate the Simple code option to be able to choose a code with letters.

29. Have Siri read your emails aloud

How about if Siri read your new emails to you? Well, it is possible.

Just tell Siri "Read my new emails" and it'll give you the name of whoever sent the email, time, subject, and email.

30. Display the time of sending and receiving sms

Just swipe the screen from right to left in your messages.

31. Disable "read" read receipt in messages

Did you know that anyone can see if you have received and read an iMessage?

To deactivate the read receipt and read receipt, go to Settings> Messages and deactivate "Read receipt".

32. Automatically dial a number with an extension

The iPhone's Pause feature allows you to pause after calling a number and then dial another number.
