8 Natural Hair Treatments You Can Do Yourself.

Eggs, yogurt and honey are, at first glance, all ingredients for a tasty breakfast.

But these ingredients can also be used in hair treatment. Natural and affordable with this!

They are not the only ones. Did you know, for example, that avocado oil is the most similar to the natural oil in our body?

Or that the mild acidity of lemon is as effective - and milder - than the chemicals in specialty shampoos?

The next time your curls need some spring, save some money by using one of these culinary ingredients:

Natural and effective hair care

1. For normal hair

A raw egg is really the best for your hair. Why ?

Because the yolk, rich in fats and proteins, is naturally moisturizing, while the white, which contains enzymes from food bacteria, eliminates grease from the hair.

How to do

To. For normal hair, use the whole egg. For oily hair, use egg whites only. To hydrate dry, brittle hair, use egg yolks only.

b. Then fill a 1/2 cup with whole egg, white or yolk depending on your hair type.

If you don't have enough egg to cover your scalp and hair, prepare more.

vs. Apply to clean, damp hair.

d. Leave on for 20 minutes.

e. Rinse with cold water to prevent the egg from cooking.

f. Shampoo.

Whole egg and yolks alone can be applied once a month and whites alone every two weeks.

2. For dull hair

Styling products as well as air pollution can leave a film that dulls the shine of your hair.

But dairy products like sour cream and plain yogurt can help repair this damage.

Lactic acid gently removes dirt while milk fat hydrates.

How to do

To. Take a 1/2 cup of sour cream or plain yogurt.

b. Massage your damp hair with it.

vs. Let sit for 20 min.

d. Rinse for the first time with lukewarm water.

e. Rinse a second time with cool water.

f. Shampoo as you normally would.

The treatment can be applied every two weeks.

3. For itchy scalp

To combat dandruff and itching - caused by poor diet, stress, and the weather, among others - try a mixture of lemon juice and olive oil in your hair.

The acidity of lemon juice helps rid your scalp of any dead, or dry skin, while olive oil hydrates the skin.

How to do

To. Mix 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of water.

b. Massage your wet scalp.

vs. Let the mixture sit for 20 minutes on your head.

d. Rinse your hair.

e. Shampoo as normal.

The treatment can be applied every two weeks.

4. For damaged or tired hair

To add body to your hair, you can use an unlikely drink: beer!

This fermented drink contains yeast, in quantity, which is very useful for restoring energy and hold to tired hair.

How to do

To. Mix 1/2 cup of stale beer (pour the beer into a container and let sit for 2 hours to remove the gas) with sunflower oil and a raw egg.

b. Apply to clean, damp hair.

vs. Let stand for 15 min.

d. Rinse it off with cold water.

Another solution is to add the stale beer to a spray bottle and spray it on dry hair.

When the liquid evaporates, the remaining residue of the protein (which comes from wheat, malt or hops) will strengthen the structure of the hair.

These treatments can be applied every two weeks.

5. For dry or sun damaged hair

Whatever the type of dehydration, hard water, overexposure to the sun, straightening iron, here is a natural product that will work miracles.

This product is honey. Why ? Because it's a natural moisturizer that attracts and retains moisture in your hair.

How to do

To. Massage the equivalent of 1/2 cup of honey into damp, clean hair.

b. Let sit for 20 min.

vs. Rinse it off with lukewarm water.

d. You can also add 1 to 2 tablespoons of olive oil to make rinsing easier.

For very sun damaged hair, try mixing honey with 1 to 2 tablespoons of an ingredient that is high in protein, like avocado or egg yolk.

This mixture will help restore the keratin proteins damaged by UV rays.

The treatment can be applied once a month.

6. For oily hair

Used correctly, semolina (or cornstarch) is an inexpensive and effective remedy for treating oily hair.

How to do

To. Pour 1 tablespoon of cornmeal or cornstarch into an empty salt or pepper flask.

b. Sprinkle on dry hair and scalp until you have used it all.

vs. After 10 min, use a hairbrush to brush and remove everything.

The treatment can be applied every other day.

7. For frizzy hair

Beauty experts swear by the lawyer - and not just to fix damaged hair.

Its oils (which look like 2 drops of water like our own natural skin secretions) and proteins provide the best combination of nutrients for smoothing and controlling unruly hair.

How to do

To. Crush half an avocado.

b. Massage into clean, damp hair.

vs. Let sit for 15 min

d. Rinse it off with water.

You can enhance the moisturizing action of this remedy by combining mashed avocado with 1 to 2 tablespoons of sour cream, or egg yolks or even mayonnaise.

This treatment can be applied every two weeks.

8. For hair prone to dandruff

Nothing works better than baking soda to get rid of dandruff.

Why ? Because the bicarbonate is in charge of taking care of everything that is acidic.

How to do

To. Mix 1 to 2 tablespoons of baking soda with small amounts of water until you get a thick paste.

b. Massage into damp hair.

vs. Let sit for 15 min.

d. Rinse it off with water.

f. Shampoo as usual.

This treatment can be applied every two weeks.
