Ready to take a Canadian breakfast ? Let's go for the delicious homemade pancake recipe. Look :
Ingredients for 6 gourmets
- 190 g all-purpose flour
- 3.5 teaspoons of baking powder
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 3 teaspoons of melted butter
- 300 ml of milk
What you need
- a large mixing bowl
- a small saucepan to melt the butter
- a pan, preferably a good cast iron pan
Step 1
Pass the flour and baking powder through a sieve. Do not skip this step if you want pancakes with one texture at a time. light and soft.
2nd step
Form a well in the middle of the flour and break an egg inside.
Step 3
Melt the butter in a small saucepan. Take care not to burn the butter and let it bubble.
Step 4
Add the milk and the vanilla extract to the melted butter in the saucepan and mix.
Step 5
Using a whisk, incorporate the mixture of milk and melted butter with the egg. The secret to obtaining a barely liquid dough? Do not add the flour to the liquid mixture all at once. Instead, incorporate the flour little by little with the whisk.
Step 6
Preheat the pan with about 1 teaspoon of butter. Once the pan is hot, pour 1 dose of dough (about 6 cl) and shape it into a round shape. It doesn't matter if your pancake isn't perfectly circular, that's the beauty of homemade!
Step 7
Wait until the underside of the pancake begins to brown before turning it over with a spatula. The pancake is ready to be turned when the dough firms up slightly and small air bubbles appear on top.
Results
There you go, your homemade pancakes are already ready to be tasted :-)
Traditionally, pancakes are served stacked and garnished with fresh fruit, such as strawberries or blueberries.
At home, we add a small knob of salted butter between each pancake as we stack them.
Pancakes can be eaten in all kinds of ways, don't be afraid to try a new composition. For example, served with baked apples topped with honey or maple syrup, they are just to die for.
Conservation
To make them easily on weekdays, you can keep the dough in the refrigerator overnight.
If necessary, add a little milk so that your dough retains its characteristic “barely” liquid texture.
