Here's Why Some Pets Smell Worse Than Others.

When we farts, it's often Russian roulette!

Is there going to come out of it a light odorless wind or a horrible nauseating gust?

Why is it that sometimes my farts have no smell ...

... and that other times I'm afraid of breaking the ozone layer?

What is the scientific reason why some farts stink and others don't?

Well, Dr. Myron Brand, an American gastroenterologist, explains what makes some of our gas so smelly.

According to this gastroenterology specialist, the stench of our farts varies depending on what we eat.

Here's what Dr. Brand explains:

“A bad smell is not a bad sign. It's just a consequence of what you eat and what your bacteria are doing in your digestive tract.

"From that point of view, we're all different. A strong smell just indicates that the carbohydrates you eat are poorly absorbed by your body - and therefore have fermented."

Know that just because you eat badly doesn't make your farts smell worse.

In fact, it is quite the opposite! Yes, the more healthy foods you eat, the more likely your farts will stink.

Why ? Because foods high in fiber such as broccoli, cabbage and quinoa stimulate bacteria in the gut, which produces a lot more gas.

Be aware that proteins also cause particularly smelly farts.

So you can be sure that all those muscular show-offs in the gym are producing a lot of methane ...

In fact, scientifically speaking, farts are not made of methane, but of hydrogen sulfide.

If you've ever been to hot springs or near a volcano, you've probably heard of that characteristic rotten egg smell.

Dr Brand concludes:

“Some people produce methane, and others hydrogen sulfide, which makes gas smell like rotten eggs. It all depends on what you've eaten before. ”

Fun fact: on average, a person farts between 10 to 20 times a day !

And in case you doubt it, Franky Vincent, the Georges Brassens of the Antilles, confirms it to us in song ;-)
