Inexpensive and homemade recipe for dishwasher tablets

Thus, you avoid exposing your family to the real dangers of toxic substances that go into the composition of household products sold on the market!

So, without further ado, here is the easy and inexpensive recipe for Homemade dishwasher tablets:

Ingredients

What ingredients do you need for homemade dishwasher tablets?

For a recipe of 28 to 56 dishwasher tablets:

- 180 g of baking soda

- 180 g of citric acid powder

- 90 g of unrefined and untreated coarse salt (you can also use magnesium sulfate, the famous "Epsom salt")

- 12 cl of white vinegar

- 15 to 20 drops of lemon essential oil

- 2 ice cube trays, like these silicone ice cube trays

These doses are sufficient to fill 2 ice cube trays (it depends on their dimensions). By cutting each piece in half, you get between 28 and 56 dishwasher tablets.

How to do

1. Combine all the dry ingredients in a large container such as a salad bowl.

2. Gradually add the white vinegar and mix thoroughly.

3. Stop adding white vinegar once the mixture begins to clump together.

How do I know when the homemade lozenge mixture is ready to mold in an ice cube tray?

Note: the mixture sparkles slightly when you add white vinegar.

4. Add and mix lemon essential oil.

5. Transfer the mixture to the ice cube trays.

Why is it important to firmly pack the mixture of your dishwasher tablets in the ice cube tray?

Note: tamp each compartment of the container carefully, until the pellets are compact.

If you are successful in packing each compartment well, your mixture should fill about 2 ice cube trays.

6. And now the easiest part: wait ! To dry your tablets, choose a dry and sunny place, for at least 24 hours.

7. Once the lozenges are totally dry and well solidified, you can unmold them.

Homemade dishwasher tablets are perfect for your dishes!

Store your homemade dishwasher tablets in an airtight container like these glass jars that won't let in moisture.

For each wash, add 1 tablet to the detergent drawer of your dishwasher.

For even more cleaning power, you can add 3 drops of dishwashing liquid. But beware, no more than 3 drops, otherwise you will have foam all over the place!

And if your homemade lozenges are too big because of the dimensions of your ice cube trays, they can easily be cut in 2!

Finally, don't forget to add a little white vinegar (10 to 20 cl) in the tub of your dishwasher before starting a cycle. If your water is hard, this is an essential step to avoid water marks on your glasses!
