All this friction in the washing machine that wears down the fabric ...

Terry towel, hand towel or bath towel: it doesn't matter!

With time, all the towels become coarse and tear off the skin.

So how do you make your towels as cozy as they are in a hotel?

here is 7 easy tips to keep your towels soft and fluffy :

7 Secret Tips To Make Towels Ultra Soft.

1. Use less laundry

The main reason towels are rough to the touch is the laundry residue that collects in the fibers of the fabric.

The solution is to use a little less detergent than the amount recommended on your laundry package.

This will make it easier for your washing machine to remove the last soap scum that makes towels harder and less absorbent.

2. Wash your towels in hot water

Choose a high temperature to wash your towels and keep them soft

If the wash water is warm, it softens the fibers and absorbs the detergent better.

This helps remove dirt and residue that sticks to the towels.

To find the ideal wash temperature, check the wash label on your towels before washing them.

3. Use white vinegar instead of fabric softener

It's ironic, but in the long run, fabric softeners make your towels more rough and less sweet!

Indeed, they contain silicone, which forms a film around the fibers and stop absorption of water.

Instead, use white vinegar to make your towels softer.

White vinegar helps remove soap scum that makes towels rough. Thus, they regain their softness and absorption power.

Every 6 weeks or so, cycle with 250 ml of white vinegar and without detergent. Then do a second cycle with 150 g of baking soda. The tutorial is here.

4. Use baking soda

Use baking soda to wash the towels and keep them soft

Baking soda helps relax fibers and remove laundry residue.

This will make your towels softer and fluffier.

Just add 100g of baking soda to your normal amount of laundry.

Little more, bicarbonate has powerful deodorizing properties.

Thus, it naturally removes musty odors from damp towels left in a gym bag or on the bathroom floor.

5. Avoid overloading the washing machine

Don't overfill your washing machine!

This is because if the washing machine drum is overloaded, there is not enough space between the towels.

And if the towels are too tight, the washing machine is less effective at rinsing away dirt and laundry residue.

This rule also applies to the dryer. By overloading it, there is not enough air to soften the fibers of the fabric.

As a result, even after washing and drying in the machine, your towels become hard and coarse.

For best results, it is advisable to fill your drum halfway, approximately 2 to 3 towels per wash depending on the size of your washing machine.

Likewise, wash your bath linen together in the same machine: bathrobes, towels, washcloths, bathrobe, bath mat, etc.

Separate them from other clothes that can damage the terry cloth (zipper, button, etc.).

Those who have a tumble dryer know it: they work miracles to soften the laundry!

In the short term, your towels come out puffy, supple and very soft!

This is paradoxical, but repeated drying can also wear down the fabric of the towels and make them rougher.

To avoid this wear, set your dryer to a lower temperature and a slower speed.

Likewise, it is also advisable to alternate between drying in a clothes line and drying in the tumble dryer.

You can also partially dry the towels on a drying rack before cooling them with a small blow of the dryer.

Don't have a tumble dryer? So before you put them on the drying rack, don't forget to shake your towels well to swell the fibers.
