7 Simple And Effective Tips Against Tartar In The Toilets.
Limestone, I have the impression of never getting over it!
It accumulates so quickly in the toilet that you never have time to say phew!
Result, it leaves traces and black deposits very difficult to remove ...
As the water stagnates permanently, it is impossible to keep the bottom of the bowl white.
Commercial anti-lime products are generally overpriced, not super effective, and full of harmful products.
So, how do you remove tartar encrusted in the toilet?
Fortunately, here is 7 simple and effective tips to get rid of lime scale encrusted in the toilet bowl. Look :
1. Baking soda + White vinegar
Baking soda and white vinegar are two of the household products I use for a lot of things.
In addition to being completely natural, they are really inexpensive. And in the toilets, they work a miracle!
How to do :
- Pour about 500 ml of vinegar into the toilet bowl. With a clean toilet broom, be sure to wipe it all over the toilet bowl and in all nooks and crannies. Leave it on for about 1 minute.
- Then, put about 150 g of baking soda in the toilet bowl. Add another 500 ml to 1 liter of vinegar. This will cause a very useful foamy reaction to loosen impurities. Leave on for about 10 minutes.
- Then use the toilet brush to distribute the solution evenly around the bowl, paying particular attention to the encrusted limestone above the water line. Do not flush the toilet.
- Leave the vinegar and baking soda solution to work for another 30 minutes maximum, brushing once or twice more, until the tartar is gone. If any remains, scrub with the brush.
- Rinse by flushing. Check out the trick here.
2. White vinegar
With regular maintenance, white vinegar on its own may be enough to prevent toilet bowl scaling.
Indeed, thanks to its acidic pH, white vinegar has the ability to dissolve limescale in the bowl or tank.
For that, use this trick once a week or so to be quiet.
How to do :
- Pour the white vinegar directly all around the bowl.
- Leave it on overnight.
- To find a clean toilet without tartar, all you have to do is scrub the toilet bowl with your toilet brush.
- And to rinse, just flush the toilet the next time you go to a pee to save water.
For an even more practical side, you can even make this anti-limescale spray based on white vinegar.
3. Soda crystals
Soda crystals are also particularly effective in combating limescale in toilets and descaling the bottom of the bowl with heavy scale. Check out the trick here.
How to do :
- Boil 1 liter of water.
- Put on gloves before handling the soda crystals.
- In a basin, put 3 tablespoons of soda crystals and pour the boiling water into the basin.
- Mix well with the spoon.
- Pour the mixture directly into the toilet.
- Leave to act for at least 15 min.
- Then, brush the bottom of the bowl to remove the lime.
- Flush the toilet.
4. Oyster shells
Wondering how to prevent lime from settling in the toilet?
When you eat oysters, do not throw away the shells!
In addition to being useful for your chickens and your plants, they could well become the best anti-limescale in the toilet tank.
To do this, simply put 1 or 2 shells in the toilet tank, and use them normally.
As it attracts limestone, it will land on it rather than on the email in your toilet. Check out the trick here.
5. Lemon
Lemon is a powerful natural product against limescale.
So, after having squeezed a lemon, I collect the half-lemons and I pass them, pulp side, inside the toilet bowl.
And mainly to descale the edges.
You can leave it on for a good hour before rinsing it off. At the same time, lemon disinfects your toilet.
It also works to remove limescale from bathroom tiles. Find out how here.
6. Coca-Cola
Although we know the corrosive aspect of coca-cola, in particular for the stomach, we know less about its usefulness for stripping certain surfaces.
This is the case with limestone in the toilets. Just pour a can of cola in the bowl and leave for 1 hour to remove the limescale.
The phosphoric acid contained in the coca cola acts on the encrusted dirt and breaks up the tartar in the toilets. Check out the trick here.
7. Regular maintenance is sufficient
No need to buy expensive chemicals to prevent lime build-up in the toilet.
Simple regular toilet maintenance avoids having to go to the cash register for nothing!
It is enough to regularly put 250 ml of white vinegar in the bowl and leave to act overnight to prevent the lime from settling and remove it quickly if necessary.
By doing this, I never have to scrub for hours to maintain my toilet again.
