4 Tips To Easily Brown A Cake.
When a cake is golden brown, it is a sign that it is good.
If you want to make a splash in terms of presentation and taste, follow this tip to brown your cake every time.
You can brown your cake with egg yolk, milk or sugar water, sugar or even honey.
1. Egg yolk
This is the trick used by all bakers and pastry chefs to make pastries shine (brioche, pain au chocolat, croissant) and recipes for apple pies, shortbread cookies and cakes and it never fails. Beat the egg yolk with a pinch of salt and a tablespoon of water and brush it over the top and sides of the cake. At the exit, you will always have a shiny cake, with a beautiful golden color without adding sugar.
2. Milk or sugar water
For a gilding, just mix a little milk or water with sugar and spread this preparation on the cake. We rather use this recipe when we want to have golden cakes but not too much. The cakes will not be as shiny as if you brown them with an egg.
3. Sugar
To brown muffins and other plain cakes, sprinkle them with sugar 5 minutes before the end of cooking. The best is to use icing sugar, simply because it stays on the dessert when you apply it. The sugar forms a fine caramelized crust on top of the cake ... Notice to amateurs!
4. Honey
This is the gourmet trick of the lot. Brush the cake with a little liquid honey, 5 minutes before the end of cooking. The dessert will take a nice amber color and the taste of honey will give an extra touch of greed.
Now it's up to you to choose the technique you prefer according to the aesthetic result you want to achieve, but also according to taste. Treat yourself and surprise the guests!
