1. Position the wicks

Place the metal piece at the base of the wick in the bottom of your small pot. Then, take a skewer and tape the other end of the wick to the skewer. The wick must be well drawn and straight.

Place the skewer across the top of your container and leave the wick straight.

2. Measure the amount of wax

Take the jar that will serve as a container for the candle. Measure the exact capacity of the container by putting water in it. Pour the water into the measuring cup.

Thanks to this trick, you now know the exact capacity of the pot and can measure it.

Take the wax in a lozenge. Measure the equivalent of a double capacity of the pot. For example, if the capacity of the jar was 50 ml, prepare 100 ml of wax.

3. Melt the wax in a double boiler

Half fill your pot with water. Then drop the glass container that contains the wax flakes in this water. If you can, put them directly into the dispenser with the spout.

Make sure that water does not enter the container. Then heat over medium heat.

Use a metal spoon or spatula to stir the wax.

Once the wax is completely melted, remove it from the pan.

4. Scent and color the candle

Now you have to choose the strength of the fragrance.

If you want a medium scent candle, add about 10 drops of essential oil per 450g of wax.

If you want your candle to smell stronger, add more drops.

You can also color your candle by putting a few drops of food coloring.

Remember to stir so that the products mix well.

5. Pour the wax

Put your small jars in a place where you can leave them without touching them for a few hours. Above all, do not touch the jars when the wax is hot!

Then, hold the skewer firm while you pour the wax into the container. It is best to use the container with a pouring spout.

Pour to the desired height.

6. Let cool

Allow the wax to cool and set for about 3 to 4 hours.

It is best to leave it at room temperature: this prevents the wax from cracking.
