How To Easily Make An Original And Cheap Advent Calendar?

December 1 is the day of the Advent calendar.

And the supermarket version calendar with indigestible chocolates, I saturate!

There are plenty of other ways to easily create a pretty economical and original calendar.

Here are some ideas for creating yourself, or with the children, a cute Advent calendar that will last for several years.

1. With socks and a ribbon

a homemade advent calendar with baby socks

This was my first home calendar. My mom didn't know what to do with baby clothes. She recovered the small pairs of multicolored socks.

She stretched a beautiful ribbon with two nails and tied 24 socks with small clothespins on the ribbon. (Avoid bedbugs, they may not hold up to 24 socks filled with surprises!).

Small labels were stuck on the socks with the numbers 1 to 24!

There you go, a pretty garland of socks for an original Advent calendar.

2. With multi-colored card stock

Once you have gathered your 24 chocolates or your 24 little surprises, lock them in cartons! To do this,

1. Cut a square between 10 * 10 and 15 * 15cm from colored card stock.

2. Roll it up to make a tube (staple or glue to hold).

3. Flatten one side and secure it with a dot of glue or two staples.

4. Then fill your bag with its associated surprise.

5. Then flatten the second side of the tube so that the two sides of the carton are perpendicular. Staple ...

6. All you have to do is write the numbers on a label with a felt-tip pen and stick it on.

Savings made

In the supermarket, Advent calendars all look alike and, honestly, chocolates are not haute cuisine!

For a little more originality, bakeries and pastry shops offer us pretty calendars with homemade chocolates. Succulents of course, but overpriced!

With the approach of Christmas, we have enough expenses to do not to add that of a calendar that is not very original and of poor quality.

Creating your own Advent calendar allows on the one hand to reuse it year after year and save money and on the other hand to be able to offer other gift ideas to our children: something other than a simple chocolate .

Personally, I also like the idea of having them participate in the creation of the calendar, it awakens them and shows them that doing things yourself can be nicer than buying.
