A Hitch on Your Leather? A Tip for Repairing your Jacket or Jacket.

Did you slip up your beautiful leather jacket?

It is often difficult to part with your favorite torn item of clothing, especially if it is made of leather.

Do not panic ! No need to throw away your item of clothing or leave it in the closet.

Fortunately, a seamstress friend gave me a clever solution to repair leather clothes yourself.

You just need to use self-adhesive (or iron-on) strips to repair a damaged leather jacket. Look, it's very simple:

repair a torn leather garment

How to do

1. Turn the garment upside down.

2. Cut the adhesive strip according to the size of the tear.

The end of the self-adhesive tape should not be too big (otherwise you will feel it and it is quite annoying), but not too small either, so that it can cover a little more than the torn part.

3. Bring the two torn sides together.

4. Affix the adhesive strip to it.

5. Once the adhesive strip is affixed to the garment, find a fabric that is neither too thin nor too thick to put on top.

6. Cover the entire part of the garment where the tear is located.

7. Iron everything with a hot iron, being careful not to touch the leather garment.

8. Pass it a few times to make sure the tape sticks to the torn garment.

And now with this cheap trick, you can put your clothes back on again :-)

It's easy to repair a jacket or a bomber jacket, isn't it? I need to be an experienced seamstress! It is very easy to do, even for beginners in sewing.

And it works for a jacket, pants, skirt or coat.

You can find these iron-on bands in a haberdashery store, in a supermarket or here on the Internet.

Savings made

Leather is an expensive material. If we are unfortunate enough to have torn one of his leather clothes, we would do anything to fix it. But it's not easy to find the right person without breaking the bank.

A shoemaker or even a tanner would do the trick, but at what cost?

Self-adhesive tapes are sold for less than 5 € in stores, and they are very easy to find.

You save yourself the cost of an expensive repair and the purchase of a leather garment which is also quite expensive.

The iron-on bands are reusable for other torn garments whose material is difficult to sew, such as linen for example.
