This Man Devotes His Life To Adopting Old Dogs Who Have No Home.
Steve Greig loves dogs!
Unfortunately, he lost his four-legged friend a few months ago.
And he struggled to recover ...
He then decided to give a good life to another dog, but not just any dog.
He went to the shelter closest to his home to adopt the “least adoptable” senior dog.
Indeed, old dogs are often overlooked during adoptions because people prefer to take a young dog.
Today Steve adopted the 10 oldest dogs at the shelter.
His Instagram account explodes with love messages from his 773,000 subscribers.
Every day Steve wakes up at 5 am to make breakfast for his big family. Most dogs have different diets.
His schedule is punctuated by walks in the park, veterinary appointments ... and lots of love and hugs.
Steve also has a pig called Bikini, as well as 2 ducks, pigeons, cats and a few chickens.
For now, he has no room for pets, but he intends to adopt other senior dogs in the future. Because after all, love has no age!
Long months passed after his dog died but Steve was still devastated
"After 3 months, I still felt so bad"
"So I decided the only way to bounce back was to do something right"
"So I adopted a 12 year old chihuahua with bad knees and a heart murmur"
"And that was just the beginning ..."
Now Steve is a very busy man with his 10 dogs
"My routine is to get up at 5 am and prepare breakfast for all my animals"
"In addition, each dog has a different diet adapted to his pathology"
He also takes them to the groomer and the vet
And he also administers his medication to everyone
Steve even comes home from work at noon to take them out and give them treats
When he's not at home, the whole troop has a blast ...
"I have always grown up with a lot of animals"
"Both my parents also loved animals"
"They always let me have the animals I wanted as long as I took care of them"
"Older dogs are wiser and more responsible than young"
"And I can tell you that I feel good with them at home"
"It makes me happy to know them happy and fulfilled rather than in a cage ..."
"It gives meaning to my life and enriches me every day"
In France too, old animals in shelters are much less likely to be adopted. They often end their old days in cages and in a promiscuity that does not always suit them.
"Their fragile health is likely to entail costs that adopters wish to avoid" explains the President of the SOS Vieux Chiens association. The SPA even has an "Operation Doyens" program. Find out here.
