This baked chicken recipe comes down to a simple formula: chicken + themed seasoning + vegetables + grated cheese = delicious balanced meal ready in minutes.
One of the flavor combinations that's been on my to-do list for a long time is broccoli with bechamel sauce. I knew this would be a must because it is a fun recipe for kids and a favorite of my husband.
But at first, I was a bit stuck ... Because making a béchamel sauce myself was a bit too complicated and time consuming for a busy weeknight. So, I kept the idea in the back of my mind while waiting for a little spark.
And when I came across one of these ready-made bechamel sauces… it clicked! It was done ! It was the missing piece of the puzzle for this dish I wanted to create. It gave me the boost I needed to be able to make this super simple recipe for a speed night.
So it's a quick dish to make: you won't be disappointed. It will be ready in 10 minutes, maybe even less and hop in the oven.
Ingredients
- 3 chicken fillets
- ready-made béchamel sauce
- frozen broccoli heads
- grated Gruyere
How to do
1. Take a baking dish. I use this pyrex baking dish.
2. Place your chicken fillets flat on the bottom of the dish.
3. Place the still frozen broccoli heads on the chicken fillets.
4. Pour the béchamel on top of the broccoli evenly.
5. Sprinkle grated Gruyere on top of the dish. Your dish is now ready to go in the oven.
6. Bake at 200 ° C for 45 to 65 minutes or until the chicken is cooked.
Results
There you go, your chicken and cheese gratin is already ready to be enjoyed by the whole family :-)
As promised, it couldn't be easier to do. And congratulations on these delicious flavors!
I really emphasized that this dish is easy to make. But let's take 1 min to say how delicious it is!
The bechamel sauce is perfect. It is just thick enough for the dish to hold up nicely. Mixed with Gruyère, it gives a generous and creamy sauce that my family adores.
My kids devoured the nutrient-dense broccoli coated with bechamel sauce, no questions asked. So this is a victory, my friends!
Additional advice
- Me, I cook my dish halfway up in the oven and that does not require covering it. But each oven varies in size and temperature. So keep an eye on your dish. If you don't want it to brown more, cover it with a sheet of baking paper for the rest of the cooking time.
- I served this dish with rice. But if you want something lighter, you can serve it on a bed of spinach.
- You can even use the leftovers by chopping them and putting them in wraps with romaine salad. Yum !
- It's a versatile dish, easy to use in new recipes, for even simpler lunches or dinners all week.
