Auchan Drive: Good or Bad Idea?

The Drives allow you to do your shopping from your computer and then collect them in the store. Attracted by the concept, I decided to test Auchan Drive to see for myself if it's a good or a bad idea!

For the past few weeks, the race has continued. Between overtime, traffic jams to go to work and my in-laws who came home for two weeks, I don't have a minute to myself. So go shopping after 45 minutes of traffic jams to get to the smallest supermarket, no thank you!

However, we must eat well. So I put aside all the knowledge passed on by my dad ("Internet shopping is not good, it kills jobs and it creates unemployment"), and I made up my mind to order everything I needed on Auchan Drive.

Step by step control

In front of the screen, I am first asked to create my personal account, with my card number Whaou! (well, yes, I still want to take advantage of the store's loyalty card!) and my delivery address.

I can then tackle the command itself. The products are classified by department and a tab is dedicated to promotions. A search bar allows me to directly type the name or brand of the product I'm looking for. It's going pretty fast, and the prices are clearly displayed, with details of special offers and promotions for the week (one purchased = one free, 10% credited to the card, etc.).

I collect my products

The next day, head to Auchan parking lot, where the terminals await Internet users. I give my order number and an Auchan employee (ah, I'm reassured, they still need manpower!) Comes to put my groceries in my safe. Too bad he doesn't come to my house to put them away in my cupboards. :-) Corn I savor the fact of not having wasted an extra hour on the shelves and at the cash register!

A little more limited choice than in store

Small flat, anyway, on the inability to choose your vegetables or meat. This posed a real problem for me ... and I didn't take everything I wanted for that reason!

As for the expiration dates, which worried me a bit, I am reassured, they did not give me expiration date products, as I feared. Suddenly, I think I will come back through this as soon as my fridge is empty and I need to do my shopping without wasting too much time.

Savings made

In the end, I cost € 82.35 of racing. My card is credited with € 6.50, as if I had been in a store, and I found a € 8 discount code for € 80 of purchase.

That is 10% more savings than it would have cost me in store. And here, unlike some other brands, no order processing fees.

In the end, if I do the total calculation, it means that if I do this all year round, I will save 416 € per year on my shopping budget!

The prices displayed are more or less the same as on site. In any case, nothing seemed prohibitive to me. And with the Drive, I saved the delivery costs, which are generally around 10 €.

In short, even if I am a little hostile in principle, I admit that I have found advantages!
