36 Ingenious Ways to Recycle OLD PALLETS in Outdoor Furniture.
I don't know when it was exactly, but projects with recycled pallets are exploding on the Internet.
The great thing is you can get these pallets for free. But also that all projects adapt to all types of DIY enthusiasts.
Stores that have a gardening section will certainly have pallets in stock. If you ask nicely, you will probably walk away with a car full of pallets :-)
Here I've picked out some of the most inventive and remarkable DIY projects made from reusable pallets.
These projects are all for the garden. Some are quick and easy while others will require the hands of expert DIY enthusiasts.
But they are all beautiful and all respect the environment since we use recycled objects.
And if there is one thing that I advocate in life, it is to limit the waste, because everything can be used again to create beauty and functionality. Look :
1. Garden furniture
Ideal for those who have a nice large terrace and love to invite friends over. These benches offer plenty of seating.
2. Hanging bed
It's a bit like a giant hammock. It's relaxing and calming. The ideal accessory for lazing around, in the shade of a tree in summer, captivated by a good book. It's like a little slice of heaven just outside your house.
3. Table with zen garden
What better way to decorate a table than by incorporating a small Zen garden in the middle? This central greenery is simply magnificent. The use of succulents is very smart because they are pretty and require little maintenance.
4. Day bed
What could be better than spending a beautiful day relaxing outside on your day bed? Enjoy the beauty of nature around you, your solitude or the children playing around.
This pallet daybed is perfect for that. What makes it specific and really cool is the PVC pipe backrest.
5. Shelf for your garden tools
I love this project because instead of taking the entire pallet apart, you are using its original shape to your advantage. You just add a few little things to make it better like a drawer knob for example.
What you get is a fantastic shelf to store all your gardening tools in one place.
6. Design plant pot
Here's a cute little project that won't take you too long. It's perfect to put on either side of a front door, or on a coffee table.
7. Coffee table
What really appeals to me about this project is its simplicity. If you don't have a large balcony, or you fancy a small side table to put your drinks or books on, this small table out of pallets is perfect.
8. Sandbox
Here is a super innovative project to do with recycled pallets. Of all the things you can do with a wooden pallet, I never would have thought of making a sandbox.
The cover provides protection against leaves or other debris. When the lid is open, it creates a nice little seat for the kids.

11. Hammock chair
I've seen ideas for chairs made from recycled pallets, but I've never seen a project like this. Creative, smart and truly unique. It's almost like a hammock, but made from wood.
Does that sound uncomfortable to you? The wood panels hug your body when you are seated, so it is very comfortable. Here is a project that will definitely land on my to-do list!
12. Gabion table
A gabion looks like a cage filled with rocks or concrete. In this project, the table and chairs are unique thanks to this concept. I love the pop and subtle color. Great for enjoying your morning coffee (or tea, in my case)!

You can put pillows for the kids or use it as a place to put your drink. This mini garden furniture gives an elegant touch.
17. Table with casters
Here is a small outdoor table that is very easy to make with only two pallets. I like the idea of putting on wheels: you can move it anywhere you want, and even inside if you need an extra table.
18. Folding workbench
This little folding table in your garden for potting is adorable! You can close it when not in use, it does not take up space. It's a relatively easy project to do, which shouldn't take too much effort from you.
19. Rustic sofa
In my opinion, this is the embodiment of garden furniture made in pallets. I like the markings on the wood and the burlap (old coffee bag) as a cover. It is also one of the less intimidating projects, it could be a good start for beginners.
20. Day bed
If you like the idea of a pallet daybed, but don't actually want to spend too much time doing it, you'll love this easy project.
You just need to place four identical pallets (stacked 2 by 2) and screw them together. Then take two boards to dress the front. Finally, you recycle an old mattress and cushions for comfort and decoration. It is that simple!
21. Children's cabin
It is a much more serious project. It will take you longer and take a lot of effort. But it is a project that will last in the long term.
That being said, the result is spectacular! This could make a really great playroom for your kids, or a little garden shed for you.
22. Open cabin
This cabin is much easier to build because it has a more open structure. It is a great place for children to play or read. An adult cannot fit in it. It's a nice little place just for the kids.
23. Children's picnic table
Two pallets can provide the wood for this small picnic table for children. You can adapt the size of your table: small for small children or larger for older children.
24. Mini screen
If you have something to hide in your garden, such as an air conditioning unit, you can make a small screen.
What a brilliant idea! Just paint the palette as it is and then add some embellishments if you want.

The seat and the table are actually made in a very simple way. And the table with wheels is a brilliant idea to move it wherever you want.

I really like its large size, and with a good pillow you could spend your days lounging in comfort.

So, now that you've got your chairs, sofas, and tables made, here's the project you've been missing out on if you're bored!

29. Dog basket
Now that you've done all of that furniture, then maybe it's time to spoil your puppy and make her own basket with the leftover pallets. There will be a comfortable place to relax outside.
30. Compost bin
We can all do a little bit for the environment and become even more independent. A compost bin can be a great way to start.
You will need four paddles to make it and a few parts like hinges, lock, and wire. Overall, it's a fairly straightforward project to do.
31. Simple bench
I really like the simplistic style of this piece of furniture which can be used either as a bench or as a table.
Another reason I like this one is for the choice of colors. I point out that although the natural color of the wood is pretty, you can also paint it for a rustic or vintage look. Use natural paint with one of these recipes: How To Make Your Own Homemade Natural Paint?
32. Bicycle trailer
Another very impressive project. Not only is it "green", but in addition it is much more economical than those of the trade.
Try to find a pallet that is made of a light wood (like pine or spruce) so that it is not heavier than your bike.
33. Green wall
This is a great idea to dress up an outdoor space. In addition, this green wall does not take up too much space.
To achieve it, you don't have to take an entire pallet apart, you can use it almost as is. It is therefore an aesthetic and easy project.
34. Bicycle rack
It hardly requires any effort or special tools to achieve it. 36. Traditional rocking chair
If you prefer very traditional things then you will love this project to have a classic looking chair.
Warning : some pallets can be treated with chemicals, and this can be hazardous to your health. When choosing your pallets, take the ones marked "HT" which means they have been treated at "High Temperature" rather than chemically. They are therefore safe.
