3 Effective Grandma's Tips To Easily Descale Your Kettle.

Is there limescale in your kettle?

This is normal, the scale always ends up clogging the kettles!

And this is true for both electric kettles and whistle kettles.

Fortunately, there are tips to easily descale and maintain your kettle.

For that, nothing beats the efficient and economical tips of my grandmother.

No need to buy a descaler for your kettle, you already have everything you need in your cupboards. Look :

2 economical and natural tips for descaling a kettle

1. White vinegar + baking soda

Ingredients : white vinegar, baking soda

This is undoubtedly the most classic and the simplest method. It must be said that it is formidably effective on all kettles, plastic or stainless steel.

Not to mention that it is super simple: just pour 1/3 of white vinegar into the container. Then add 2 tablespoons of baking soda. All you have to do is fill the tank with water.

If the lime layer is well encrusted and thick, you can pour pure vinegar (without adding water). But be careful, because this method is very powerful but also corrosive.

Whatever your choice, leave it on for 1 hour. After an hour, turn on your kettle and wait for the water to boil. Stop it then let it rest for another 30 minutes.

When this time is up, throw in the vinegar water and put clean water in the kettle. Boil it. Repeat this operation once or twice, then simply rinse with clean water.

There you have it, your kettle is now perfectly clean: no more traces of tartar or limestone!

2. Lemon juice

Ingredients : 1 glass of lemon juice per liter of water

Don't have vinegar on hand? Don't panic, you can also descale your appliance without vinegar. Just replace it with lemon juice.

In this case, there is no need to use baking soda. Simply fill your container with water and lemon juice. It is necessary to put 1 glass of lemon juice per liter of water. Then, let your mixture act against the limescale for 1 hour. After an hour, boil it. Leave to act again for 30 min.

Then empty your kettle and fill it with clean water. Boil it. Repeat once or twice, then rinse one last time with clean water.

3. Citric acid

Ingredients : 2 tablespoons of citric acid per liter of water

Know that nothing prevents you from using citric acid in place of lemon. You must then mix 2 tablespoons of citric acid per liter of water used to clean your kettle.

You must then wait 1 hour for your anti-tartar product to take effect. Then boil it and wait another 30 minutes. Empty the kettle and fill it with clean water. Bring it to a boil. Repeat 1 to 2 times then rinse one last time with clean water.

If you choose this solution, don't forget to put on plastic gloves and wear protective goggles!

How to avoid scale in the kettle?

Prevention is better than cure, it is well known. So to prevent tartar from forming in the container of your kettle or coffee maker, there is a surprising but extremely effective grandmother's trick.

Just break off a piece of oyster shell and put it in the bottom of the container. Why ? Because the limestone will settle naturally on the mother-of-pearl of the shell. Of course, remember to clean the shell well before putting it in the kettle!
