Results
And there you have it, with this simple and effective washing, the end of the large outdoor garbage can that smells bad in summer :-)
You now have a like-new trash can!
If the bin is particularly dirty and smells very bad, instead of washing up liquid, use a solution of soda and hot water. Put 1 glass of soda crystals per liter of water.
Pour in enough mixture to soak the bottom of the bin for at least 30 minutes.
Very effective in eliminating bad odors in the outdoor bin, whether plastic or stainless steel.
Additional advice
- remember to clean the container just after collecting it from the city so that the trash can be empty. If this is not possible that day, arrange to store the garbage bags elsewhere while cleaning.
- if you can, put your vegetable waste in a composter. You save space in the trash, and in addition this waste is recycled to feed your plants.
- if not, put the leftover food (fruit peel, fish heads) in an airtight bag and place them in the freezer until the day of garbage collection.
- put the trash in a cool or shady place, but not in the garage if there are smells.
- if you can handle the smell (and if you have a large enough vehicle), take your trash to a car wash.
