Do you know sodium percarbonate?

This white powder is also called sodium percarbonate, sodium carbonate peroxhydrate or sodium carbonate peroxyhydrate.

All these names designate a single product: sodium percarbonate.

Less famous than baking soda, this white powder with a granular texture does not lack assets.

It is particularly useful for maintaining the house and even the garden. Look :

Composition of percarbonate

Percarbonate of soda or even "solid hydrogen peroxide" results from a mixture between crystals (sodium carbonate) and hydrogen peroxide, better known as "hydrogen peroxide".

This is the secret of its effectiveness.

This is because when mixed with water, percarbonate breaks down into sodium carbonate and hydrogen peroxide.

18 USES OF PERCARBONATE

FOR THE LAUNDRY

1. To wash clothes

It is the ideal product for washing whites, colourfast fabrics, household linen ...

But you can also use it to wash baby's clothes and even cloth diapers.

On the other hand, avoid using it on fragile fabrics or with sensitive colors.

Or, start by doing a test on a very small part of the laundry or clothing, to see how it reacts.

2. To remove encrusted stains

To detach laundry before washing, mix 1 to 3 tablespoons of percarbonate per liter of water. The water should be warm or hot.

Some stains are more difficult to remove than others. This is particularly the case with blood, sweat or fruit stains.

To make them disappear, we will have to apply another method. Mix some hot water with percarbonate to form a paste.

Warning ! Again, if you want to remove a blood stain, you must use cold water.

Apply this paste to the stain and leave to act for 15 minutes before washing the laundry in the machine.

3. To bleach the laundry

For a crisp white laundry, put 1 to 2 tablespoons of percarbonate of soda in the drum of the machine.

Add your laundry as usual. And start the machine with the usual program.

4. To improve the action of soapnuts

Are you used to using soapnuts? It is true that it is a natural and inexpensive detergent.

If you want to improve their effectiveness, put the soap nuts in the machine and add 1 to 4 tablespoons of percarbonate.

5. To wash cloth diapers

Fill a bucket with hot water and pour in 2 to 4 tablespoons of percarbonate of soda.

Soak diapers or pads for several hours.

Then put them in the machine and add 1 to 3 tablespoons of percarbonate in the drum before starting the program.

And it also works for washing washable monthly pads.

Precautions: percarbonate is therefore very useful for having clean and sanitized laundry. But it is not suitable for washing fragile or delicate textiles or colored linen.

It could discolor the laundry and damage delicate colors. Therefore, do not soak colored laundry in a concentrated percarbonate solution.

Either way, always test a small area of ​​the fabric that is inconspicuous. It should not be used for washing woolens either, because of the soda crystals it contains.

6. To remove limescale in the toilet bowl

Limestone has the annoying habit of becoming embedded in the bottom of the toilet bowl. And it's really not easy to get rid of!

Fortunately, here is an anti-lime powder recipe for toilets, the lime does not resist long.

Take an airtight can and mix 2 tablespoons of percarbonate of soda, 4 tablespoons of baking soda, 4 tablespoons of citric acid in it.

Please note, this floor cleaner is not suitable for waxed floors and linoleums. Likewise, it is not suitable for lacquered, painted or waxed surfaces and should not be applied to aluminum.

8. To clean the tile joints

Are the bathroom gaskets stained or moldy? No worries !

Pour 1 part of percarbonate to 10 parts of hot water in a bucket.

Mix and run your cleaner over stained or moldy joints.

Leave on for 5 min. Once this time has passed, take an old toothbrush and scrub the joints with it. Remember to rinse well to finish.

9. To clean and disinfect toilets

10. To remove a stain from a rug or carpet

Percarbonate is perfect for easily removing stains from carpet.

The first instinct is to remove as much of the stain as possible with absorbent paper.

Next, pour 1 liter of hot water into a container and add 2 or 3 tablespoons of percarbonate.

Soak the stain with your cleaning product and wait 5 to 10 minutes for the product to work.

Before applying your homemade stain remover, test it on a small patch of inconspicuous carpet or rug to be sure the product does not discolor the rug or rugs.

13. For stripping pots and pans

14. For the dishwasher

For maximum effectiveness, you can combine it with essential oils of lemon, tea tree, lavandin, pine or even radiated eucalyptus.

Precautions

Be careful, however, there are some precautions to follow because it is an effective and powerful product:

- It must be kept out of the reach of children.

- Don't swallow it. It is harmful if swallowed. If so, contact a poison control center urgently.

- In contact with the eyes, it causes serious eye damage.

- It can aggravate a fire because it is an oxidizer.

Conservation

Percarbonate of soda does not tolerate humidity well.

You must therefore take care to close the package each time you use it. Afterwards, it should be stored at room temperature, in a room without humidity.

Remember, homemade cleaners made with percarbonate of soda cannot be stored. It is therefore necessary to prepare your products according to your needs, as you go.

On the other hand, to save time, you can start by mixing all the powdered products and dissolving them at the last moment.

How to use it simply?
