Want to remove rust from your tools?
At the end of the summer, we repair and put away the gardening tools.
Whether it's a pruner or a shovel, there's no need to buy hydrochloric acid.
It is a poisonous product which can be dangerous when you use it.
Fortunately, there are natural and effective solutions for removing rust from iron, cast iron or steel.
To do this, just use a few natural products to clean your old tools. Look, it costs almost nothing:
1. With baking soda and lemon juice
To restore the blades of tools, this grandmother's trick is magic. Just squeeze a lemon juice, then mix 1 part with 3 parts baking soda.
Rub rust stains with this mixture. You can use an old toothbrush for this. Finally, rinse your blade and wipe it dry.
This is a trick that works well to get stainless steel knives back. With this tried and tested trick, you will also be able to easily renovate your Opinel: it will be like new! And it also works to get rusty screws or rust spots back on your bike.
2. With dry grass and white vinegar
Again, this is an old trick gardeners are familiar with for removing rust from their old tools. Take some dry grass and roll it into a ball. Soak it in white vinegar. Rub your tools with the ball of dry herb soaked in vinegar. Rinse them and dry them well.
Even if they will not be brand new, your tools will regain their shine and they will be smoother. You will be able to use them more easily because they will slide better. Plus, it's a great way to recycle your mowing grass!
If you don't have white vinegar, the alternative is to use baking soda. In this case, sprinkle the dry herb ball with baking soda and rub it on your DIY or gardening tools.
3. With newspaper and white vinegar
Obviously, you don't always have dry grass on hand. And depending on where you are, this solution is not always very practical. No worries !
Replace dry grass with newspaper. Make a well crumpled ball with the newspaper then wet it lightly with the white vinegar.
All you have to do is rub with it to remove the rust on the iron. Rinse and dry well. Again, this is a good way to recycle your newspaper.
