Why ? Because there are other more economical solutions that avoid having to put chemicals in the hair.

So why not you ? Why not make your own homemade shampoo?

Forget about petroleum based products and go the natural way!

1. Baking soda and apple cider vinegar

This traditional trick is to combine two applications. First the baking soda to clean your hair. Then apple cider vinegar to rinse them.

These 2 ingredients are all you need!

How to do

To. Pour 1 tablespoon of baking soda on your hair and massage well, from scalp to roots.

b. Let sit until your hair has a "slippery" texture.

vs. Rinse your hair. (Do not put vinegar before, otherwise you will cause a volcanic eruption!)

d. After the hair is rinsed well, apply apple cider vinegar to the entire length (don't worry, the strong smell is normal).

e. Rinse thoroughly.

2. The coconut

coconut can be used as a shampoo

If you have curly hair, this tip is for you! A great alternative to apple cider vinegar, coconut has an ideal pH to hydrate your hair without damaging it.

To know how to do it, it's very simple. You just need to take the previous trick and replace the apple cider vinegar with coconut oil.

3. Coconut milk and Castile soap

To continue with coconut, here is another quick tip that combines the benefits of two quality products.

How to do

To. Mix in a bottle 1/4 cup of coconut milk, 1/3 cup of liquid Castile soap, 1 teaspoon of olive oil or almond oil and 10 to 20 drops of the essential oil of your choice.

b. Shake, shake and it's ready to use!

4. Honey

honey can be used as a shampoo

To add some creaminess to your hair, washing with honey every now and then is a good alternative.

How to do

To. Pour 1 tablespoon of honey into a saucepan.

b. Add 3 tablespoons of water.

vs. Heat until the honey is dissolved in the water (15-30 sec).

d. Apply a little of this mixture as a shampoo with every shower.

Honey has no preservatives and when mixed with water it quickly expires. So remember not to keep this mixture for more than 10 days.

5. Aloe vera

aloe vera can be used as a shampoo

If you've just stopped using chemical shampoos and switched to natural ones, aloe vera is the ingredient for you. Essential during this transition period, it is also recommended for maintaining a healthy scalp.

How to do

To. Mix 1/4 cup of homemade or store-bought aloe vera gel and 2 tablespoons of honey.

b. Using a whisk, or a food processor, get as smooth a texture as possible.

vs. Apply to your hair, leave to act for a few minutes, the time of a shower, and rinse with water.

6. Rosemary and mint

How to do

To. Combine 2 cups of water, 2 cups of fresh rosemary and 2 cups of fresh mint.

b. Bring everything to the boil and let cool for 20 minutes.

vs. Pour into a colander to remove the strands and stir in 2 tablespoons of baking soda.

Directions for use: after rinsing your hair with water, pour a few spoons of this mixture on your hair. Massage from root to ends. And rinse again with plenty of water.

7. Eggs

How to do

To. Mix 1 egg, 30 g of olive oil, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and 1/2 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar.

b. Wash your hair.

vs. Rinse with lukewarm or cold water (to avoid making an omelet!)

8. The lawyer

Avocado is rich in vitamins and fats. It is therefore the hydrating shampoo par excellence!

How to do

To. Mix an avocado with 1/2 cup mayonnaise or 1/2 cup coconut milk (your choice).

b. Take a comb and comb your hair with the mixture.

vs. Cover your head with a towel or film and leave for 20 minutes.

d. Rinse thoroughly.

Your hair is now silky! And the advantage is that if you don't use all the mixture, you can keep the mixture for a week in the fridge.

9. Bentonite clay

A little more complex, this shampoo is ideal for thick, curly hair that needs moisture to keep all its volume.

How to do

To. Take a non-metallic spoon.

b. In a small glass mug, mix 1 tbsp of bentonite clay, 1.5 tbsp of apple cider vinegar, 1.5 tbsp of raw honey, and 5 tbsp of filtered water. If you see bubbles, this is normal, you can add 1 tablespoon more filtered water if needed.

If you want to add oil, add 1/2 teaspoon and mix well.

vs. On dry hair, pour small amounts on your scalp and rub the mixture. It doesn't matter if the mixture runs the length of your hair.

d. Leave on for 5 minutes. If you leave it on for longer, it may dry out your hair, even if the honey is there to moisturize it.

e. Rinse thoroughly with cold water.

There it's done ! If you find your hair a little dry, feel free to moisturize it after shampooing with a little oil or honey.
