7 Useful Steps To Remember Before Leaving On Vacation.
Holidays are expected all year round!
But at the time of departure, no rush.
It would be silly to leave without forgetting to turn off the water or electricity ...
So that you don't forget anything before departure, here is the list of the 7 things to do to save money during the holidays!
N ° 1: gas
You are going to tell me: "What savings are made by turning off the gas?" I will then answer you tit for tat: "probably none, unless I have a small leak that I was unaware of until today, but in doubt ..." And then security question, it is no worse.
N ° 2: water
Yes I cut it too. You know why ? I had the bad experience of a toilet leak, which was barely noticeable. It took me a long time to see her, by the way. So, just like with gas, when in doubt, I cut! And if there is a small leak, I will save a lot of money!
N ° 3: the fridge
The last days before the holidays, I empty the fridge. I only make recipes that use the leftovers I have in the fridge or cupboard.

The day before departure, the fridge is practically empty and in the morning before leaving, I lower the thermostat as much as possible.
I save twice as much:
1/ I have no food left over and on top of that I did little shopping in the last week.
2/ My electricity bill in the middle of September will be reduced.
N ° 4: TV and Internet box
Obviously, I'm thinking of turning off the TV with the off button, and not just putting it on standby. While I'm at it, I switch off the Box. Goldfish don't connect to the Internet while I'm away, and green plants rarely watch TV.
All this, always with the aim of reducing my EDF bill and making my devices last longer.
N ° 5: electrical appliances
The water that remains in the water heater does not need to be heated. So I cut it. I am also thinking of the computer, the printer and any other household appliance that would use current in a standby state.
N ° 6: green plants and goldfish
I do not yet know my neighbors well enough and I do not have the budget to afford the services of someone who would come and take care of the apartment in my absence.
But, over two weeks of vacation, some plants need to drink. My son's goldfish must feed. (Imagine Loulou screaming on the way home asking why Bubulle has his stomach in the air!)
So for plants that need to drink more than once in a fortnight, I install a drip mechanism. For Bubulle, I buy a pastille which dissolves in water as it goes.
N ° 7: empty your trash
It may make you smile, but I have forgotten in the past. I will spare you the not very enticing details, but it can be very unfortunate. When I get home, I won't save any money if I had to disinfect everything and brick the apartment thoroughly so that it finally smells better!
I also take the opportunity to put baking soda everywhere: in the trash of course but also in the sink, WC, bathtub, washbasins. This simple gesture will prevent bad smells upon my return.

And There you go ! In all, ten minutes to leave with peace of mind, for two weeks that promise to be great!
Savings made
I can't give you a precise figure for the savings you will make, I don't know all your habits and how long you are going.
But, I will give you an idea of my case.
In the year, I go two weeks in summer and one week in winter. I can significantly reduce my electricity bill. An idle fridge and all appliances unplugged, it can save me 20% on my 3 weeks vacation.
Your turn...
And you, what do you do before the big departure? Tell me in the comments, maybe I'll add something next year thanks to you!
