Banned for sale, nettle manure is however the most popular organic fertilizer.

Rich in potassium, it stimulates the growth of plants and helps them build natural defenses against disease.

He is also particularly noted for being a super cheap insecticide. Aphids and mildew will not resist it.

How to do

1. Cut nettles.

2. Place about a kilo of nettles in a large container or barrel.

3. Pour a liter of water over it.

4. Leave to macerate for about eight to fifteen days.

5. Stir every day to oxygenate the preparation and avoid bad odors.

6. The preparation is ready when there are no more bubbles rising to the surface.

Results

And there you have it, you have prepared your homemade nettle manure :-)

It is now ready to be used. Nettle manure can be stored in a cool place and not very bright, for example in the cellar.

Uses of nettle manure in the vegetable garden

Note that nettle manure never use pure. You can either use it in spray, either watering.

To do this, pour nettle manure into your watering can. Filter it through the head of the watering can. Collect the macerated leaves and put them in the compost.

In spraying: dilute the compost to 5%, or 1 measure of liquid manure for 20 of water. This use is perfect for scare away aphids.

In watering: dilute 1 liter of liquid manure in 10 liters of water. Use this water as a natural fertilizer to baste tomatoes, spinach, cabbage, zucchini, leeks and pumpkins before fruit formation.

Watering every 10 to 15 days in the spring is sufficient. Do not put any more fertilizer in summer, this would only increase the leaves but not the fruits!

Warning : do not put too much because any abuse is dangerous for plant health.

Other liquid manure to know

Other vegetable liquid manure is also very useful for the vegetable garden, each one having its own specialty.

Rhubarb, ivy or fern slurry are ideal for eliminating pests such as aphids, leek moth or white fly.

Burdock, nasturtium, elderberry or horsetail manure stimulates the natural defenses of your plants or flowers. They are therefore used in prevention and not in treatment.
