Frangipane et Chocolat: The Kings of my Homemade Galette!

Soon the Epiphany crowned by its famous cake!

And to celebrate this event, nothing like a beautiful homemade galette des rois.

This year, it will be frangipane and chocolate.

My children love these moments when, finally, they will choose their king and their queen.

So, if I don't have the bean this year, I hope to be the queen of the kitchen with my tasty pancake recipe.

The kings' cake

Preperation : 25 min - Cooking: 30 min - Difficulty : easy

For 8 people - Budget per person : 0,43 €

Ingredients for 8 people

Dark chocolate for the galette des rois

- 2 rolls of puff pastry (store-bought)

- 100 g of ground almonds

- 100 g of dark chocolate in pieces

- 120 g of butter

- 100 g of sugar

- 2 eggs + 1 egg yolk (for the gilding)

- 1 bean

How to do

1. I melt the butter and the chocolate in a saucepan.

2. I beat the eggs with the sugar.

3. I add to this preparation the butter and the softened chocolate as well as the almonds.

4. I roll out one of the puff pastry on the baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

5. I place the chocolate frangipane mixture in the center and spread it out well, leaving about 2 cm of dough on the edge.

6. I sink the bean into the dough.

7. I cover everything with the 2nd puff pastry, pressing well on the edges to weld them.

8. Using a brush, I brush the top of the patty with the beaten egg yolk.

9. With a fork or the blade of a knife, I draw braces on the top of the patty.

10. I bake it for about 30 minutes at 180 ° C.

There you go, your galette des rois is ready :-)

- 2 rolls of puff pastry: approximately 460 g at € 3.39 per kilo, or € 1.56

- 100 g of ground almonds: at € 8.40 per kilo, i.e. € 0.84

- 100 g of dark chocolate in pieces: at € 3.60 per kilo or € 0.36

- 2 eggs + 1 egg yolk (for the gilding): € 0.75

An addition of 0.43 € per person or € 3.51 for 8 people.
