A simple way to save on fabric softeners is to replace them with white vinegar.
Yes yes, you read that right: white vinegar.
Just replace your fabric softener with white vinegar before running your washing machine.
How to do
1. Replace your fabric softener with white vinegar: 1/2 cup of white vinegar is enough per wash cycle. You can also use the dispenser of your old fabric softener.
2. If you wish, you can add 4 to 5 drops of essential oil of your choice to perfume your laundry. Lavender essential oil works wonders!
3. For more efficiency, add 1 tablespoon of baking soda which will balance the mixture.
4. Start your machine as usual.
Results
And there you have it, with white vinegar, you no longer need to buy fabric softener :-)
Do not worry. The laundry has no vinegar smell.
Either way, increase or decrease the amount depending on how soft you get after washing.
Be aware that the amount needed also depends on the hardness of the water in your area.
The softeners that we buy in the supermarket are expensive and far from economical compared to white vinegar.
