Don't worry, these tips are easy to do and inexpensive. Look :
1. A perch
Hens prefer to sleep high up to avoid potential predators. It's in their instinct. To build them a nice perch, you only need a few boards and nails. You will see, this will reassure them considerably and they will never leave him. To do it easily, follow this video tutorial.
2. A dust bath
This dust bath is very important for the hens. It's a question of hygiene for them. They get rid of fleas, lice from chickens and all parasites. To make this dust bath, just mix wood ash and sand. To make one with old tires, check out our tip here.
3. An anti-poop hammock
To keep the floor of the chicken coop clean, you can make a kind of hammock out of old canvas. This prevents droppings and feathers from accumulating on the ground and becoming a nest for germs. Place this hammock in small notches under the inner perch to collect all the droppings. Then take it out regularly to wash it with the jet (about once a month). Once disinfected and dry, place it back into the notches under the perch.
4. A PVC pipe as a seed distributor
Here's a super simple thing to make that will make your life so much easier. Just take a PVC pipe with a Y-intersection and cut it to the height you want.
Provide plugs for the bottom and top of the dispenser. Install it in the desired location in the chicken coop.
Then, all that remains is to fill it with seeds. The hens will be able to eat quietly when they want. The advantage is that the food reserve lasts several days, it allows you to go on weekends without being afraid to leave your chickens. In addition, the food is protected from the elements.
5. A swing for chickens
Here is a very simple trick that allows chickens to have fun and exercise during the day. No more boredom in the henhouse! You will need a fairly strong branch, a drill, and some string. Drill a hole 2 cm from each end of the branch. Pass a piece of string through each hole and tie a big knot underneath. All that remains is to hang the swing at the desired height in the henhouse.
6. A place to run
No hen house worthy of the name without a space for the hens to run around and scratch the dirt. It can take any shape and size you want. You will find an easy tutorial here.
7. A water dispenser made with a plastic bucket
Hens always need to have water available. To make a water dispenser easily, use an old plastic bucket. You need a bucket, a drill, very good quality nipples (to avoid leaks) and Teflon tape to serve as a seal.
Drill 3 holes in the bottom of the bucket of the same diameter as your nipples.
Surround the thread of each pacifier with a layer of Teflon tape, then screw the pacifier.
And there you have it, all you have to do is hang the water dispenser securely in the henhouse :-)
8. A birdhouse
Hens need a quiet and safe place to lay their eggs. Make one easily.
Nest boxes large enough for a hen to build and stand in her nest. The ideal size is a cube 40 cm square. For 3 nesting boxes, plan 3 boards 130 cm long by 40 cm high and 4 square boards 40 x 40 cm. Then, follow the tutorial in pictures.
Line the nests with straw or wood chips.

The chickens love to look at each other ;-) They keep them busy! So, consider putting a nice mirror in the chicken coop.
10. A cucumber to distract the hens
