How To Make Your Own Washable and Reusable Cleansing Wipes.

Big brands make us believe that we need disposable wipes for everything.

To clean the work surface, the toilets, our faces and the buttocks of our babies.

And I must admit that I am one of those consumers who have fallen for the trap, especially when it comes to cleaning!

Until a few months ago, you could find disposable wipes under my sink and my sink ...

How to make washable and reusable wipes

But here's what happened: I finally realized that all these things were unnecessary, cost maximum money, seriously harm the environment and our health and, most importantly, could be easily replaced by washable and reusable wipes.

The days when a good old rag, washcloth, or sponge could be used to clean everything at home, are sadly long gone.

But multinationals can't make money if we make our own wipes, use old T-shirts as rags, or disinfect sponges for reuse.

Why you don't need to buy wipes

Streak-free multi-surface cleaning wipes

On average, people spend 70 € per year in disposable wipes that end up in the trash on the first use. A set of 3 packs costs almost € 10!

I don't know about you, but I prefer reusable things rather than disposable things.

In addition to being very expensive, disposable wipes found in supermarkets are full of aggressive chemicals for your health and the environment.

We can cite, for example, bleach which has harmful effects on health known for decades.

How about a homemade wipe that disinfects just as well and contains natural ingredients like white vinegar and anti-bacterial essential oils?

How about a washable, reusable wipe, made from whatever material you choose and in the size you want?

Well guess what ?! It's possible and, what's more, it's easy to make your own wipes!

Homemade wipes are a breeze to make and will become your essential tool for cleaning the whole house perfectly.

My lemon vinegar wipe recipe will make all your surfaces shine, save you money, and pose no health risk to your family (unlike bleach).

What you need

Use old t-shirts and sheets to make homemade wipes

- between 15 and 20 pieces of cut fabric

Me, I use pieces of old T-shirts and old cut sheets that are approximately 10 x 10 inches.

- 1 large jar of about one liter

You can take any other glass container of the same capacity that has a tightly closing lid. Glass is the best choice because essential oils react with plastic.

Ingredients

- 250 ml of filtered water

- 250 ml of white vinegar

- 15 drops of lemon essential oil

- 8 drops of lavender essential oil

- 4 drops of bergamot essential oil

How to do

shake the jar of wipes to make homemade wipes

1. Put all the ingredients in the jar.

2. Close the jar with the lid.

3. Shake to combine all the ingredients.

4. Add the pieces of fabric to the jar.

5. Press firmly so that the tissues absorb the liquid well.

6. Make sure the lid is properly closed and turn the jar upside down so that the fabrics soak up well.

Results

And there you have it, you have made your own washable and reusable wipes :-)

Easy, isn't it?

Store your homemade wipes in a dark cupboard to keep all the properties of essential oils for longer.

How to use homemade wipes

1. Take a wipe out of the jar.

2. Wring it out to remove excess liquid.

3. After use, rinse the wipe with clean water for reuse.

4. After several uses, you can machine the wipe and put it back in the jar once it has dried.

Uses of homemade wipes

As these wipes do not contain no toxic product, there is no hassle in using them anywhere in the house on almost any surface.

They are perfect for cleaning glass, stainless steel, tiles, linoleum or porcelain ... and much more!

Keep a jar of homemade wipes in the kitchen for disinfecting and degreasing the countertop and cleaning food stains.

Use them to clean the mess that has been made in the kitchen, for example in the sink, in the microwave, on the floor, faucets and the fridge.

Also put a jar of wipes in the bathroom. They are perfect against limescale on sinks, mirrors, toilets, shower stalls and faucets.

Now you know what to do! Finish your last package of expensive disposable wipes you have under the sink and replace it with homemade wipes again more efficient, more economical and really green !
